DIAMOND DERMABRASION

HOT & COLD THERAPY & ULTRASONIC TREATMENTS

No chemicals or anaesthesia are used in the procedure, which is known for being simple and pain-free. It's appropriate for most skin types because it is non-invasive and can effectively reduce or eliminate wrinkles, acne, age spots, stretch marks, and more.
Moderate usage of Diamond dermabrasion, accompanied with processional skin care products that penetrate through the top skin layer and reach the dermis level, helps to replenish natural nutrients, restore cell activity, thus promoting a healthier, more glowing complexion.
Diamond dermabrasion can be used to treat dull skin and discoloration that can make your skin look less youthful, though it does have a multitude of additional benefits:

  • Evens out skin texture
  • Patients usually notice smoother skin and a more-radiant complexion after treatment, it’s not magic: Suction stimulates collagen production, which makes the skin appear smoother and more youthful.
  • Improves your complexion
  • Rejuvenates skin damaged by the sun (face – including hard to treat lip and character lines, neck, shoulders, arms and legs). Diamond microdermabrasion gently stimulates the skin to promote blood circulation and give the skin an instant glow, resulting in an improvement of overall skin health.
  • Reduces age spots and dark spots left by acne
  • Removing dead cells from the surface of the skin leaves your face looking more radiant.
  • Improves product absorption
  • Diamond microdermabrasion clears the way for anti-aging and skin-bleaching products to reach and penetrate the skin more easily.
  • Removes dirt out of clogged pores                Removing dead skin cells allows skin to “breathe” which loosens excess oil build up and makes facial extractions easier and less painful. (i.e., removal of blackheads and whiteheads). For people on the go, a deep exfoliation treatment using the Diamond dermabrasion offers exceptional benefits. Ideal for a special event or as a program for overall skin rejuvenation, this treatment is non-invasive, painless and requires no downtime from work to social activities.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRYSTAL AND DIAMOND MICRODERMABRASION?

The regular crystal micro dermabrasion technology involves the use of a special, hand-held device that propels a high-speed flow of aluminium oxide crystals onto the skin. At the same time, the machine’s vacuum system sucks away dirt, dead cells and used crystals.
The Diamond dermabrasion system, on the other hand, replaces the micro-crystal flow with a reusable diamond tip wand. Areas closer to the eyes and mouth can be abraded more accurately with diamond abrasion (no risk of stray crystals irritation of client’s eyes, nose and throat or causing any damage by being ingested).

How long does each session take?

It is advisable to allow for 1 hour per treatment.

How many treatments are required?

How many treatments you will need is completely dependent on what your end goal is. As a one-off beauty treatment, a session will leave your skin looking bright and feeling rejuvenated.
However, if you're looking for improvement of a specific skin problem, you really need a series of treatments to see any positive effects.

Clients should come for a treatment every 2 weeks. A proper skin care program with skincare products combined with diamond dermabrasion is the key and will enhance the results of the treatment.

A series of between 6-15 treatments is advised dependant on the area/s being treated, the skins needs and your personal skincare goals. Following completion of your initial treatment package, it is advised that you have maintenance treatments once every 3 months. The fact that Diamond dermabrasion is performed in a series of treatments allows the clinician to gradually and safely take the skin to new levels of health and beauty without compromising its delicate nature.

How do I prepare for Diamond dermabrasion?

The Diamond dermabrasion process can be hard on your skin. If your skin is irritated before treatment, your clinician may want to postpone the procedure.
Do not get Diamond dermabrasion if you have any of the following:
  • An active cold sore outbreak
  • Moderate to severe acne (weeping)
  • An open wound or other skin irritation.
  • Warts
  • Active rosacea
  • A suspicious mole
  • Sunburn
  • Diabetes
  • Auto-immune system disorders
  • Recent waxing
  • Recent laser treatment
  • Active eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Vascular lesions
  • HIV or hepatitis B or C positive
If you have taken the acne medication Accutane in the past, you should wait to have a microdermabrasion treatment for at least 2 months following the completion of the course.
A few precautions to take in the two to three days before your treatment include:
  • Avoid aspirin and aspirin-based medicine
  • Do not wax the intended treatment area
  • Avoid the sun
  • Stop using exfoliating products, Retin-A, and glycolic acid.
Unless otherwise instructed, avoid using topical treatments on the morning of the appointment. If possible, come to the appointment with a clean face without makeup.

What should I expect after treatment (including aftercare procedure)?

Diamond dermabrasion offers excellent treatment possibilities for many skin types. After a dermabrasion treatment, your skin needs 2-3 days to build up its own lipid protection and the natural barrier function. Your skin is likely to be a little pink following treatment, this should dissipate within a few hours.
In between this time, you should take care of your skin by cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day.
You will reach the optimum treatment results by following the advice below:

  • For 24 hours: No swimming, facial waxing or fake tan application
  • Up to 48 hours after: No sauna, sun beds or sun exposure. No Botox, collagen injections or dermal fillers
  • For 72 hours: Do not use any anti-ageing creams, AHA’s, glycolic, retinol or exfoliating products
  • For up to 48 hours (if possible): - Do not apply any make-up

At all times during a course, apply SPF 30 or higher and avoid UV exposure. Regular moisturiser applications are vital to replenish the skin and prevent it becoming dry and peeling (always ensuring these are applied with clean hands).
In short, avoid chemicals, heat treatments, UV exposure and apply your moisturiser regularly with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Following the aftercare advice is very important to ensure the optimum results.
