Diamond dermabrasion is becoming a popular alternative to treatment with traditional microdermabrasion machines. Diamond dermabrasion differs from traditional treatments in that it doesn’t rely on microdermabrasion crystals to perform skin exfoliation.
What is it?
The cold treatment function is specifically designed for closing pores, soothing and calming down the skin immediately following a dermabrasion treatment.
The hot side is used to open pores; this is usually done after a superficial cleansing of the skin.
What is the hot and cold treatment function?
The Ultrasonic skin scrubber is the latest treatment which removes dead skin cells, smooth out wrinkles, treats pimples and clears the complexion. The technology uses ultrasonic waves to shake loose dead skin cells. The ultrasonic will also create heat and vibration to give a pleasant massage which will drive creams and ampoules into the skin. The pimples in pores are instantaneously emulsified by the ultrasonic wave and cleared away painlessly.
This method cleans the skin thoroughly, and will have significant effects on the skin, especially for facial treatments. It employs a variety of currents to produce vibrations at incredible speeds of 28,000 vibrations per second. These safe high frequency vibrations are scientifically designed to gradually remove any imperfections such as dead skin cells, dirt, grease particles and black and whiteheads.
What is the Ultrasonic Treatment?
Diamond dermabrasion is a creative improvement of the Micro-crystal dermabrasion that provides a non-surgical skin refinish procedure, by using sterile diamond heads to abrade or rub off the top skin layer, then vacuuming out the particles alongside any dirt and dead skin back up.
The procedure removes skin debris and helps to improve skin imperfections and blemishes.
How does it work?
The regular crystal micro dermabrasion technology involves the use of a special, hand-held device that propels a high-speed flow of aluminium oxide crystals onto the skin. At the same time, the machine’s vacuum system sucks away dirt, dead cells and used crystals.
The Diamond dermabrasion system, on the other hand, replaces the micro-crystal flow with a reusable diamond tip wand. Areas closer to the eyes and mouth can be abraded more accurately with diamond abrasion (no risk of stray crystals irritation of client’s eyes, nose and throat or causing any damage by being ingested).
What is the difference between Crystal and Diamond Microdermabrasion?
It is advisable to allow for 1 hour per treatment.
How long does each session take?
How many treatments you will need is completely dependent on what your end goal is. As a one-off beauty treatment, a session will leave your skin looking bright and feeling rejuvenated.
However, if you're looking for improvement of a specific skin problem, you really need a series of treatments to see any positive effects.
Clients should come for a treatment every 2 weeks. A proper skin care program with skincare products combined with diamond dermabrasion is the key and will enhance the results of the treatment.
A series of between 6-15 treatments is advised dependant on the area/s being treated, the skins needs and your personal skincare goals. Following completion of your initial treatment package, it is advised that you have maintenance treatments once every 3 months. The fact that Diamond dermabrasion is performed in a series of treatments allows the clinician to gradually and safely take the skin to new levels of health and beauty without compromising its delicate nature.
How many treatments are required?
The Diamond dermabrasion process can be hard on your skin. If your skin is irritated before treatment, your clinician may want to postpone the procedure.
Do not get Diamond dermabrasion if you have any of the following:
* An active cold sore outbreak
* Moderate to severe acne (weeping)
* An open wound or other skin irritation.
* Warts
* Active rosacea
* A suspicious mole
* Sunburn
* Diabetes
* Auto-immune system disorders
* Recent waxing
* Recent laser treatment
* Active eczema
* Dermatitis
* Psoriasis
* Vascular lesions
* HIV or hepatitis B or C positive
If you have taken the acne medication Accutane in the past, you should wait to have a microdermabrasion treatment for at least 2 months following the completion of the course.
A few precautions to take in the two to three days before your treatment include:
* Avoid aspirin and aspirin-based medicine
* Do not wax the intended treatment area
* Avoid the sun
* Stop using exfoliating products, Retin-A, and glycolic acid.
Unless otherwise instructed, avoid using topical treatments on the morning of the appointment. If possible, come to the appointment with a clean face without makeup.
How do I prepare for Diamond dermabrasion?
Diamond dermabrasion offers excellent treatment possibilities for many skin types. After a dermabrasion treatment, your skin needs 2-3 days to build up its own lipid protection and the natural barrier function. Your skin is likely to be a little pink following treatment, this should dissipate within a few hours.
In between this time, you should take care of your skin by cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day.
You will reach the optimum treatment results by following the advice below:
For 24 hours: No swimming, facial waxing or fake tan application
Up to 48 hours after: No sauna, sun beds or sun exposure. No Botox, collagen injections or dermal fillers
For 72 hours: Do not use any anti-ageing creams, AHA’s, glycolic, retinol or exfoliating products
For up to 48 hours (if possible): - Do not apply any make-up
At all times during a course, apply SPF 30 or higher and avoid UV exposure. Regular moisturiser applications are vital to replenish the skin and prevent it becoming dry and peeling (always ensuring these are applied with clean hands).
In short, avoid chemicals, heat treatments, UV exposure and apply your moisturiser regularly with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Following the aftercare advice is very important to ensure the optimum results.
What should I expect after treatment (including aftercare procedure)?
IPL Skin Rejuvenation, also known as Intense Pulsed Light Laser Treatment, is a simple, non-invasive procedure to reverse damage caused by sun exposure and acne. It revitalises your skin, stimulating collagen production to visibly reduce imperfections, including pigmentation. Benefits include firmer skin, reduced pore size and a more even-textured, youthful appearance. IPL Skin Rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that emits powerful bursts of light energy to treat a number of sun spots, wrinkles, pigmented acne scarring, rosacea and vascular skin conditions without damaging the surface of the skin. IPL treatments are particularly well-suited to sun-damaged skin that suffers from redness, freckles, brown spots and uneven skin texture.
What is it?
Skin becomes more delicate and sensitive with age, providing a less effective barrier against harmful effects and subject to tightness, dryness, and redness. IPL skin rejuvenation treatments induce the underlying dermis to respond as if it’s healing a wound, regenerating the skin with more collagen and elastin. Over the course of a complete treatment, your skin will feel firmer, smoother and with a more even tone. Blemishes, sun damage, age spots, fine lines, and many other problems can be diminished. The biggest advantage of the IPL technology is that treatment includes no downtime or recovery period.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The advantage of IPL is that it offers multiple wavelengths, unlike laser treatments which use just one at any given time, meaning each pass covers a broader area of the skin, making IPL a quicker method than laser over larger areas, a great choice for you if you’re short on time. You will, however, need to be prepared to have between 5-10 courses of treatment for its full effect to be shown.
When compared to laser treatments, IPL is gentler on the skin and more versatile in treating a broader range of skin tones and hair colours.
IPL V’S LASER (THE BENEFITS)
It depends on the area being treated; on average it takes between 20 mins to 1 hour per session.
How long does each session take?
It will take on average 6 treatments (the exact number of treatments varies from person to person and how their dermis responds post treatment). You should be prepared to attend each session no more or less than 4-6 weeks apart to achieve the best results.
How many treatments are required?
Laser Hair Removal is an innovative, reliable, and safe long-term method of removing unwanted hair for both men and women. It stands out as one of the most effective and least painful method among other hair removal techniques.
By removing hair from virtually any part of your body, this treatment will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. It will also leave you free from painful in-growing hairs.
Here at SKINFIX Clinic we use the combined 3 Wave diode painless laser SHR* for all skin types I-IV.
*SHR is a unique technology that gently heats the dermis to a temperature that effectively damages the hair follicles and prevents re-growth, while avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue. A high repetition rate of short pulses are delivered deep into the dermis, achieving high average power and therapeutically effective heat build-up, with virtually no pain. The in-motion technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area ensures full coverage while the cooling system cools the skin surface preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually painless, yet highly effective hair removal.
What is it?
Laser treatment is based on a technology that delivers rapid pulses of high intensity light targeting melanin (the colour pigment in hair). The light energy is converted to heat which travels down the hair follicle to the root and destroys the germination centre preventing regrowth.
Laser only works, however, on hair in the ‘Growth’ stage, which makes up around 25% of the hair on your body at any given time. Dead hair can take up to three weeks before being shed by the skin, which is why a number of sessions are required to ensure that all hairs are treated effectively.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It depends on the area being treated; on average it takes between 20 mins to 1 hour per session.
How long does each session take?
A permanent reduction of hair growth – Here at SKINFIX Clinic we recommend a minimum of 6-8 sessions. If you have the recommended number of treatments for your hair and skin type, you will see upto 90% hair reduction. Any hair that does grow back will be much finer and grow back less frequently, resulting in smoother skin for longer.
No more ingrown hairs – Less waxing will result in fewer ingrown hairs. The need to shave being less frequent will minimise rashes and stubble.
Money and time saving - The average female spends at least 10 mins up to 8-10 times per month shaving / waxing (2 hours on average per month) – That’s an average of 58.4 days in a lifetime at a cost of approx. £8,000.
Improved skin tone and texture - Repeatedly shaving or waxing an area can cause skin pigmentation and uneven skin tone. Laser hair removal reduces the risk of this happening.
Environmental Impact - As disposable razors are not made of recyclable plastic, there are approximately 2 billion razors that end up in landfill. Switching to laser hair removal will dramatically reduce that negative impact on our planet.
What are the benefits of laser hair removal?
At SKINFIX Clinic we are pleased to be able to treat all skin types, ranging from very fair to very dark.
Our lasers work with most hair and skin combinations, provided that there is enough pigment in the hair, i.e. it is dark enough to attract the laser. This means you are unlikely to see results if you have white, blonde, grey or red hair.
What skin type do you have? Find out on the Fitzpatrick scale below:
Type 1: always burns, never tans (pale, freckles).
Type 2: usually burns, minimal tanning.
Type 3: sometimes burns mildly, tans uniformly.
Type 4: burns minimally, always tans well (moderate brown).
Type 5: very rarely burns, tans very easily (dark brown).
Type 6: never burns (deeply pigmented dark brown to darkest brown).
Can any skin type have laser hair removal?
It will take on average 6-8 treatments, (the exact number of treatments will depend on hair colour, skin colour, hair density and hair growth cycle). To achieve hair removal from each area you should be prepared to attend each session no more or less than 4-6 weeks apart to achieve the best results.
How many treatments are required?
No, this treatment has been around for over 10 years and Millions of treatments have been performed worldwide.
Is this treatment new?
Absolutely not. The intensity of the treatment is regulated by the specially trained Therapist and generates a feeling of warmth, comfort and relaxation.
Is this treatment painful?
Depending on your requirements you can book anything from a 'one off' treatment for that special occasion, have one treatment per week, fortnight, per month or every quarter to help give you that extra boost on inch and weight loss which you can combine with a particular healthy eating slimming programme you may be attending.
For clients who consider themselves to be overweight, a number of sessions may be needed. The total number of sessions required differ from client to client. The minimum number of 10 done at 1 or 2 times a week will help with this particular problem.
Maintenance - It is very important to know that after a Thermopolis’s treatment, the organism has increased its energetic consumption - so that it will be more difficult to gain weight - However, if the client’s natural tendency is to stock fat, she/he should continue treatment as a maintenance regime that will be set according to her/his needs. For example - There are people who will need one session per quarter or month so as to keep their weight and size. Whereas others will need one session each week or fortnight. It all depends on their metabolism, calorie intake, lifestyle, age and so on.
How many treatments do I need?
This treatment acts on all different skin layers including the dermis and hypodermis where cellulite is located. Water retention problems causing swelling of the adipocytes are improved through thermotherapy and blood and lymphatic circulation is increased. This treatment is an excellent complement to non-invasive mechanical contouring techniques such as Entomologies.
Does it help when treating cellulite?
Whilst a sensible diet can help you maintain a healthy weight, this treatment acts effectively on body shaping and volumes in specific areas.
Can it replace a diet?
This treatment is suitable for both male and females alike.
Is this treatment especially for women?
Radio Frequency is a non-surgical treatment which tightens slack skin around the face, including under the eyes, jawline, chin & neck areas and reduces fine lines and wrinkles to look softer, resulting in a younger looking skin.
This treatment is the ONLY method that delivers a special form of radio frequency that works DEEP to the layers of the skin (reaching between 2mm and 9mm) while causing no damage to the top layer of the skin.
What is Radio Frequency (RF)?
This treatment firms, lifts and tightens loose skin by producing new collagen to help plump out the skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles on the face & neck areas as well as skin tightening for body areas.
What Does Radio Frequency do?
Radiofrequency treatments work by generating heat for facial rejuvenation or body areas that involves the use of radio frequency waves that penetrate to the dermis resulting in contraction of collagen and the regeneration of collagen fibres leading to skin tightening on the body, and the gradual decrease in wrinkles and skin tightening on the Face & neck areas. When RF energy is delivered, the collagen will contract, providing an immediate change in skin appearance. The treatment also triggers a second process of new collagen production, leading to a significant change in skin appearance. A result of collagen remodelling is tighter, younger looking skin.
How does it work?
You will notice a slight change in your skin immediately after the first treatment and will continue to improve after each subsequent treatment. Lax skin will be firmer and more toned, not to mention healthier and younger looking, and wrinkles will be considerably reduced. You should start to see improvement in your skin following the second treatment and additional improvement will gradually appear as the treatment course progresses.
As new healthier collagen is formed, tighter, more natural looking and firmer skin will be produced. The gradual improvement in your skin will continue even after the completion of your course.
What are the results?
We recommend a series of between 6 to 10 - Skin Tightening treatments, approximately one week apart, with the best effect being seen two months following the final treatment. Depending on the number and how deep the lines and wrinkles are will depend on the number of treatments required.
How Many Treatments will I need?
The improvement in skin quality should be long lasting. However, maintaining the results of the course is important to keep your skin in tip top condition, we will all go through the ageing progress and time does not stand still for anyone, therefore a top-up treatment is required every 2 to 3 months depending on your age and or lifestyle.
How long does the effect last?
Radio Frequency (RF) technology can be used for lifting and skin tightening on many body areas including face, jawline, chin & neck areas including underneath and above the eyes, and for saggy brow lines
On the body areas - Upper arms, abdomen, back, thighs, hips and buttocks, ankles, Chest (Male)
